Hypnotherapy for Menopause

The NHS describes the menopause as the last menstrual period, but we tend to think of it as the period (pun intended!) running up to it and just after it. And because you never know which period will actually be your last, the menoapuse can go on for quite a while…

And the symptoms are different for everyone. So with a list of potential signs and symptoms as long as your arm, whilst most experiences can be quite similar, they can also be very different!

Meaning that some people just breeze through the transition without a care in the world, while others suffer dreadfully and most of us experience overwhelm, exhaustion or hot flashes to some degree…

Hypnotherapy can help with menopause

Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy is a restful way of helping you cope with pretty much anything and that includes peri-menopause & menopause. Session to session we will focus on what matters to you, whilst still following the recommended framework.

And whilst I will give you homework, because it’s all about connecting and caring for yourself, you can expect to find it a pleasure and a joy.

Hypnotherapy for menopause is a recommended minimum of 5 sessions

5 deliciously integrated sessions in which we focus on what matters most to you & the menopausal symptoms you want to address.

Techniques include:

  • Deeply relaxing hypnosis
  • Clinical hypnotherapy
  • Solution focused practices
  • Mindfulness
  • Mind-body techniques
  • Breath work

And because menopause doesn’t happen in a vacuum, there might be other things that you want to address as well…

So you can consider this as self care on a stick!

Why Hypnosis?

Working with me helps make hypnosis relaxing and easy. Hypnosis can help promote positive change both consciously AND subconsciously and all you need to do is sit back and close your eyes. Even if you normally find relaxation difficult, hypnosis can make relaxing easier. And Hypnosis is just one part of this integrated approach!

Menopause hypnotherapy is well know for helping hot flushes (aka hot flashes), feelings of anxiety, tiredness or insomnia but, as I’m sure you know, there are lots more symptoms besides.

But do I need 5 session?

You can do whatever you you want! But research has shown that most improvement is seen after 5 sessions and that for some people, ongoing support, ‘top ups’ or returning for a full second run can help maintain the benefits.

What do 5 menopause hypnotherapy sessions include?

It depends on you. But the most popular techniques include:

Progressive Muscle Relaxation: The opposite of the stress response, once mastered this can give you full relaxation with a single thought

Hypnosis: Focusing the whole of the mind, conscious & subconscious so all yourself cn better align with what you want

Anchoring: Reframing physical or emotional discomfort into comfort (or anything else you want!)

Glove Anaesthesia: How to make your any chosen part of your body cool and pain free with your mind

Blue Marble: Develop your own touch anchor to help bring about relaxation and/or coolness at any time, without even closing your eyes

Breath work: Mind-body, body mind! And your breath is a beautiful constant to centre yourself with

Gut Directed Hypnosis: If your symptoms include IBS, taking time to harmonise the brain-gut axis could be worth it’s weight in gold, read 5 simple gut directed hypnotherapy techniques for more!

What’s the problem with the Menopause?

The Menopause is when you stop having periods naturally… But periods don’t just stop, the process can take years and with the drop in oestrogen levels about 8 in 10 of us will experience symptoms.

For some, these symptoms might only last a few months, but for others it can last a few years. And given that every cell in the human body contains oestrogen, the symptoms that you might experience are as broad and varied as the way they make you suffer.

Common Symptoms

The list is endless, but here are a few of the most common symptoms suffered and the good news is that Hypnotherapy helps. In fact, there is quite a lot of research and evidence that shows that Hypnonotherapy helps.
